The first meeting of the club on Thursday October 18 in the Georgian College, Owen Sound, was attended by 14 hams 3 CBers and 1 ex ham. CRV, BIS, DTS were elected to office and plans for the installation of a 2m repeater in the area are underway. A weekly net on 3.783mcs was proposed and this will be on Sunday mornings at 9:30 A.M. When the repeater is in operation and club members are able to get on 2m the net may be switched to that mode.

As Radio Society of Ontario Delegate for this area I am most interested in getting the licenced amateurs in the club to join this organization. Current membership is around 1300 in Ontario and I note that of the amateurs attending the first club meeting only 8 were RSO members. The annual fee is $5 and if anyone has questions with regard to the RSO I will be happy to answer them at any time.

Club meetings are scheduled for the third Thursday of each month I plan to get the newsletter out by the second Thursday so if anyone has anything for "Feedback" it has to be in my hands two days before that day. For Sale, Want Ads, guest editorials, news and views are welcome.

The Thunder Bay Award is a worthwhile addition to the shack and is not too difficult to qualify for. Thunder Bay stations are on the air every night at 00.15 Z on 3.750mcs when the North West Ontario Net comes on.

Since the first Apollo space flights, the amateur station located at Cape Kennedy has put out special certificates for contacts made on the day an Apollo flight was launched. This practice has continued through the SKYLAB launches and if you haven't got in on this activity, there is a chance to qualify for the SKYLAB Crew 111 Award if you work WB4ICJ.on Sunday November 11TH. The station comes on the air after the launch vehicle lifts off and normally operates on 14.34Omcs. Usually when the going gets rough on the frequency they start to call stations by areas and on the previous SKYLAB launches I have made contact within an hour of the launch. So far my awards for the Skylab laboratory launch and the first crew launch have arrived

SPECIAL NOTICE: On the club net it was discussed and voted to change the name of the club to the "Georgian Bay Amateur Radio Club". This decision took place after the first page of "Feed Back" had been printed so the original club name remains on this issue.

Included with this issue is a list of the people who attended the first club meeting and a copy of the information required by "JAN CRYBTALS" when ordering crystals for your 2metre gear.

It was decided that club membership fees would be $3 for full membership $1 for Associate membership and all Whitecaners, Pensioners and Students would pay $1 for full membership per annum.

Two swap nets currently operating on 80 metres are run by the London Amateur Radio Club on Sundays at noon on 3.750mcs. and one run by the Muskeg Swap Net on Mondays at 19:30 on 3.755mcs. These nets are well received in this area and carry a lot of gear for sale or swap.

The Bluewater Amateur Radio Club net meets on Tuesday at 7 P.M. on 3.745mcs Club meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month in Goderich. The Goderich repeater is on 146.43/147.03 with good coverage up this way.

Code practice for beginners is sent Monday through Thursday on 3.700mcs and 146.43mcs through the Goderich repeater at 8 P.M. till 8:10 P.M

AWARDS C0MMITTEE

Station II
THUNDER BAY, Ontario.
NOTICE: Next club meeting will be held in the CIAG building computer room at 2ND Ave.W and 9TH Street. Time 7:30 P.M. Thursday November 15. Coffee and doughnuts will be available after the business has been conducted.

It is suggested that all members planning to attend club meetings should check Ontars at around 5:45 on the night of the meetings in case bad driving conditions make it necessary to cancel the meeting at the last minute. Once the repeater is in operation it will be handy for last minute weather checks around the area also information on road conditions meeting nights.

A revision of the Full membership qualifications and Associate membership at $1 for pensioners, students etc. will be discussed at the meeting as the situation is not too clear at this time.

The repeater antennas may be going on a privately owned tower 1 mile west of the Dept. of Highways tower at Woodford. Permission to use this location may be easier to obtain and the elevation of approximately 1250' would appear to be satisfactory.

Dick VE3BIS, in discussion with the repeater council was informed that channels 34/94, 31/91 and 25/85 are available for our repeater. The 2m operators at the meeting November 15 will be asked to decide which pair the repeater should be put.

Anyone wishing to buy 2m equipment should make their requirements known so that they can be kept informed of what becomes available. Dick VE3BIS has a line on some gear that may be available in Sault Ste. Marie. We hope to get two or three sets at a very good price for club members.

NOTICE: Recipients of this issue of "Feed Back" who do not join the club either as a Full or Associate member before the December issue will not be kept on the mailing list.
